BOSSES IN THIS REGION

[ AdSense slot: in-article ]

Overview

Leyndell has burned. The Royal Capital you once navigated — with its gilded boulevards and angel corpses — is now smothered in a thick carpet of Erdtree ash. The same streets exist, but the color palette has shifted from gold to grey, and the mood from grand to funereal. Enemies have been swapped out for tougher Ashen variants, and the whole place feels like the world already knows it's over. This is the point of no return in all but name: entering this region after burning the Erdtree locks you out of several NPC questlines and area content, so make sure you've finished anything you care about before pushing forward.

Threat level is moderate. Individual enemies hit hard but are manageable at the recommended level. The real pressure is boss-to-boss attrition — there's no grace between Gideon and Godfrey, and the Radagon/Elden Beast sequence is back-to-back with no opportunity to restock. Come prepared.

Recommended Approach

Stock up before you even load into the region. Bring 20+ Crimson Tears (upgraded Flask of Crimson Tears), your best consumables, and max out your weapon upgrades at Hewg before he's gone. If you're running an INT or FTH build, ensure you have enough spell slots and that your catalyst is at +9 or higher.

When you arrive at the Queen's Bedchamber grace, take a breath and explore the ash-covered streets before committing to any fog wall. Soldiers of the Erdtree still roam here and drop decent runes for last-minute leveling. The path to Gideon is a straightforward march up to the Erdtree Sanctuary — follow the ash-covered path through the main doors and up the lift.

For Godfrey directly after Gideon, use the brief runback window to chug any warming stones or Boiled Crabs you've been hoarding. His second phase as Hoarah Loux is the real fight, so conserve healing through phase one.

Do not enter the Erdtree if you need to respec. Rennala is now inaccessible once you're inside. Plan your build beforehand.

Key Items

  • Marika's Hammer — Dropped by Elden Beast. One of the best late-game Faith weapons and a trophy of completing the run. Don't miss it.
  • Erdtree's Favor +2 — Found on a corpse in the ash fields of the capital exterior, near the large tree roots. This talisman raises HP, stamina, and equip load simultaneously and is arguably the strongest all-rounder talisman in the game.
  • Golden Order Greatsword — Looted from a chest in the Erdtree Sanctuary area, guarded by a Crucible Knight. Scales with STR and FTH and deals solid Holy damage; worth grabbing even off-build for the sell value or a future playthrough.
  • Blessing of the Erdtree (Incantation) — Found on a corpse near the lower ash streets. A powerful regeneration incantation that trivializes prolonged boss fights if you can cast it between phases.

Boss Order

1. Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing (3/10) Head straight up from the Queen's Bedchamber grace. Gideon is a mage-type NPC boss who casts copies of spells from every demigod you've defeated. He has moderate HP and his poise is low — stagger him with two-handed R1 spam or interrupt his cast animation with any quick weapon. The main danger is getting caught by a full Black Flame combo or Rykard's Flame if you've killed that boss. Rush him down in under 45 seconds and he barely gets to perform. No cheese needed at this level range.

2. Godfrey, First Elden Lord / Hoarah Loux (4/10) Immediately after Gideon, through the large doors. Godfrey's first phase is a very telegraphed axe-and-stomp affair — stay close, dodge into his swings, and punish the two-hit ender. His shockwave stomps can be jumped to avoid chip damage. Phase two strips the armor and the pleasantries. Hoarah Loux grabs are his most dangerous moves; they're hard-reading drills that one-shot under 40% HP. Bait the grapple, roll away, punish. Summon Nepheli Loux here if you completed her quest — she deals solid damage and soaks some aggro.

3. Radagon of the Golden Order / Elden Beast (5/10) The final sequence. Radagon hits fast and mixes hammer slams with Golden Order incantations. Stay glued to his left side, dodge through the cross-shaped explosion, and pressure him relentlessly — he is not a damage sponge. Phase two spawns Elden Beast, which is a completely separate encounter. It swims through the arena and uses wide AOE golden attacks. Keep aggression up during its ground phases, back off when it takes to the air. Holy damage resistance gear helps here — the Haligdrake Talisman +2 cuts incoming damage noticeably. The Elden Stars incantation it throws at you tracks forever; just run sideways until it dissipates.

Exit Path

There is no exit. Defeating the Elden Beast triggers the ending sequence, and you select your ending based on what questlines you completed and which endings you have unlocked (Ranni's questline for the Age of Stars, Dung Eater's puppet for the Blessing of Despair, etc.). After credits, you'll be offered a New Game+ prompt or a return to the Lands Between before the point of no return. Congratulations — you've finished Elden Ring.
