ABDUCTOR VIRGINS
Phase Strategy
The Abductor Virgins are not a difficult fight mechanically — they are a positioning test. Two opponents with erratic, unpredictable aggro switching in a cramped arena. The encounter is designed to punish you for treating it like a fair duel. It is not.
The critical insight: the doorway is your greatest weapon. The fog gate entrance funnels both virgins into a narrow chokepoint. They cannot both attack you simultaneously through the threshold. Pull them to the door, fight one while the other idles, then reset when the second virgin aggros. Repeat until both are dead.
This is not cheese. This is the intended solution. The arena layout rewards spatial awareness over raw DPS.
Managing the Pair
At the start, both virgins are passive in opposite corners of the room. The moment you step past the threshold, one will aggro immediately — usually the left virgin. The second will follow 3-4 seconds later, giving you a brief window to burst down the first.
Critical: Do NOT run into the center of the room. The moment both virgins have line-of-sight on you, their attacks will overlap. A wheel-grab from one virgin while the second spins through you is an instant death sentence.
The correct rhythm:
- Aggro the first virgin at the doorway.
- Dodge its combo, punish 2-3 times.
- When the second virgin begins approaching, retreat through the fog gate.
- Re-enter. The first virgin will re-aggro immediately; the second will delay again.
- Repeat until the first virgin dies, then handle the second alone.
If you successfully isolate one virgin for the entire fight, the encounter becomes trivial. A single Abductor Virgin has fewer HP than most story bosses and telegraphs every attack with a full second of windup.
Attacks & Counters
Both virgins share the same moveset:

The grab is the only true threat. If caught, you take massive damage and are teleported to a sub-area of Volcano Manor with no grace access. You must fight your way back out. Do not get grabbed.
Recommended Loadout
This fight heavily favors burst damage and status effects:
- Weapon: Bleed weapons trivialize this encounter. Uchigatana with Seppuku, Rivers of Blood, or dual-wielded Reduvia daggers proc hemorrhage in 3-4 hits. Each bleed tick deals 15% of the virgin's max HP — roughly 765 damage per proc. Two procs and a virgin is already at half health.
- Lightning alternatives: Bolt of Gransax, Dragon King's Cragblade, or Lightning Spear incantation. Both virgins have -20% lightning resistance.
- Spirit Ash: Greatshield Soldiers +4 or higher. The five-soldier squad will draw aggro from both virgins simultaneously, letting you ignore the doorway strategy entirely. Available after defeating Starscourge Radahn.
- If you don't have Greatshield Soldiers, Mimic Tear +10 works but risks overextending into the center of the room.
- Talismans:
- Lord of Blood's Exultation (if using bleed — boosts attack on hemorrhage proc)
- Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (physical damage reduction)
- Green Turtle Talisman (stamina regeneration for repeated rolls)
- Items: Neutralizing Boluses ×5. Cures poison instantly. The toxic mist attack will proc poison in two ticks if you linger.
Alternative: The Bleed Burst Method
If you have high-poise armor (51+ poise) and a bleed weapon, you can ignore positioning entirely and trade hits:
- Equip Bull-Goat's Talisman for maximum poise.
- Two-hand your bleed weapon.
- Sprint to the first virgin and proc hemorrhage before it completes a full combo.
- Chug a health flask, repeat on the second virgin.
This method works because the virgins' individual combos deal 40-50% of your HP, but bleed procs deal 15% of their HP. You win the trade war by sheer efficiency. Not elegant, but effective for strength/bleed hybrid builds.
Lore Pause
The Abductor Virgins are constructs of Volcano Manor's inquisitors — iron maidens designed to abduct Tarnished and deliver them to Rykard for digestion. The one that grabbed you at the Raya Lucaria waterwheel and dragged you to the lava lake? Same model. Defeating both here grants the Inquisitor's Girandole, a spear wielded by Volcano Manor's torturers.
The encounter is optional, but the rewards — 24,000 runes and the Girandole — make it worth clearing before tackling Rykard himself.

Related Bosses
After clearing the Abductor Virgins, continue deeper into Volcano Manor toward Godskin Noble and eventually Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. If you struggled with this duo fight, consider leveling Vigor to 40+ before facing Rykard — his phase 2 demands it.
